Well, as usual things have been pretty busy at the Dojo with both music and film work flooding in. Having recently, finished the music for Al Jazeera’s coverage of the US election the Dojo has returned to a good old – fashioned music agenda. Joe Lewis has been collaborating with DJ Ben Refix (aka Sumo) on some tough ‘Fidget’ house (tunes to be posted soon) and the boys have been regularly seen DJ-ing in Ministry, Heaven and Fabric over the past few months.
As for other projects, November has been quite interesting indeed. Joe Lewis and, Dojo Regular, Helienne Lindvall hooked up with Canadian star Julie Crouchetire for a session. Hopefully more information on that will be available soon. We also would like to recommend checking out Helienne’s blog for the Guardian online – www.guardian.co.uk/profile/heliennelindvall.
As for the allusive, Sizzlax album – it is coming – it maybe a year late but it will come. We will keep you posted on any new developments.
Things have been steaming along in the Dojo for the past couple of months, with albums being polished off and films being put through the stages of post-production.
The new Sizzlax album, ‘The Wonder Years,’ is finally finished and due for release in the last week of March. Look out for more info in the coming weeks with other Sizzlax mp3s and vinyl releases imminent. The album includes the classic tracks New Route and Intern as well as recent release Freak.
As for our continuing collaboration with Tourist with a Typewriter, our next film, ‘The Path of Most Resistance’ is in post-production and should be finished by April. Also, our most recent completed work, ‘Tunnel Trade’ has been selected for the London International Documentary Festival, so more details of screenings in London will be posted on this site soon.
Finally for now, Dojo Studios would like to give a shout out to the boys from I Love Ldn. For more info on their nights please follow the link to: http://www.iloveldn.co.uk. We’d like to congratulate the young promoters for all their success on their fortnightly night at Herbal, Shoreditch .
Things at Dojo Studios have been pretty busy of late. Continuing our foray into the world of documentary film, Joe Lewis has been exceptionally busy over the past month composing for Ashok Prasad’s hard-hitting doc ‘India’s Missing Girls’ for the BBC This World series. The doc was broadcast on 22nd October 2007 at 1900 GMT on BBC Two. For those of you who missed it, we’ve got a You Tube link on our Film/TV link on the menu above.
Also we are proud to announce a new collaboration with independent production company tourist with a typewriter. Joe has recently got back from Germany where he was doing the location sound for the Tourist boys, whose recent commission from Al Jazeera English sees them focusing on the issue of conscientious objection in the US Army. More details of this documentary can be found on the tourist with a typewriter site – www.touristwithatypewriter.com
Please check back soon as we have some interesting news about future releases and all other things sound!
Well, well – after beginning the year with Rock bands and Superstar DJs we have taken a turn in our collaborations over the past three months – working closely with the respected documentary production company tourist with a typewriter.
Having collaborated two years ago on ‘I See the Stars at Noon’ the boys are back for more score and sound mixes from the Dojo. Recently completed projects include ‘A Midsummer’s War’, a film about the aftermath of last year’s war between Hezbollah and Israel. In addition they have just completed a short film about the illegal tunnel trade running from Egypt to Gaza, (to be aired on Al Jazeera English’s show ‘People in Power’ later this year). More info on these productions is available on the tourist’s website: www.touristwithatypewriter.com
In more musical news, the Sizzlax album is pretty much there and we are seeking out a release date very soon so please return to the site for an update. Those on our mailing list will get early notification so if you too want to be in the loop, then please feel free to contact us at mail@dojostudios.com to join the mailing list.
